Project Overview: The Merritt Pump Station was the first pump station constructed as part of the Picayune Strand Restoration Program for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This project included the installation of permanent steel, heavy-duty sheetpiling for the construction of the wing walls for the intake and outflow structures and the pump house cut-off walls.

Some of the sheets for the wing walls were as long as 70′ and required installation by means of a 150 ton crawler crane. Additionally, many of the sheet piles had to be finalized with an impact hammer due to the soil conditions.
