Project Overview: This project consisted of the installation of permanent retaining walls for the widening of I-75 near Ft Myers, Florida.
The biggest challenge of this project was the very hard soil we were dealing with in combination with very tight deflection tolerances of less than 1 inch. Keeping the sheet plump continuously and drive to hard soil with blow counts over 100 per foot was very challenging but we are proud to say we made it work, were with conventional equipment you would not have been able to.
Owner: Florida Department of Transporation
Critical factors were: Hydraulic connection of the hammer creating better control and an additional 17 tons of down force.
